Demand attention with bindery & finishing

Once your project is printed, the real magic begins. Our finishing services provide the final touches that transform a standard print job into an impressive marketing piece. Whether you need durability, a polished presentation, or a design that stands out, QRP has you covered. Our bindery services ensure that every project is professionally assembled, bound, and ready to make an impact.

Bindery and finishing refer to additional decorative processes applied either during printing or after the ink has dried on the paper. While some finishing operations can be done in-line (before the printed material is fully completed), the majority are performed offline (after printing is finished). Our finishing department offers a variety of machine and hand bindery services to enhance the functionality and appearance of printed materials. We are dedicated to quality and meticulous attention to detail in every aspect of the finishing process, regardless of the size or complexity of your project.

Spiral Coil Binding

Spiral Coil binding is a commonly used bookbinding style for creating documents, reports, presentations, and proposals. This binding style is known by several names, including spiral coil, color coil, ez-coil, plastic coil, spiral binding, plastic oil, and coil bind. Documents bound with a spiral coil can open flat on the desk or table and offer 360° rotation for easier note-taking. Durable and strong, this binding method is often used for documents that must be mailed. Spiral-coil-bound spines are available in more colors and sizes than other binding styles. We have large, automated machines that can handle even the largest volume of spiral-bound material.

Wire O Bound Books1

Wire-O Binding

Wire-O binding accommodates a more formal use and has an organized and professional look. Wire-O binding is a commonly used bookbinding technique for creating documents of all types, reports, presentations, and proposals. Wire-O binding is a technique that uses circular double-wire strips through pre-punched square holes along the binding edge, allowing the pages to be turned 360 degrees without damaging the binding. As such, Wire-O bound books can lie flat when open, making them a great choice for presenting information in a formal, organized, and professional way, making them ideal for manuals of all types, notebooks, calendars, and more. We have large, automated machines that can handle even the largest volume of Wire-O bound material.

Booklet Binding (Saddle Stitching)

Saddle Stitching, sometimes called booklet making, is the perfect finishing option for your documents. Saddle-Stitching is the most common way to finish booklets and catalogs like annual reports, booklets, publications, wall calendars, newsletters, pamphlets, brochures, direct mailers, comic books, and magazines.

Our booklet-making equipment is a truly amazing piece of equipment that collates, staples and folds loose sheets into a cohesive final product. Why do we call it Saddle Stitching? While we’re just stapling sheets of collated paper together, the name comes from the use of a saddle like device where the sheets are collated together and hung over the saddle during the stapling/stitching process, hence the name Saddle Stitching.

Laminating

Simply put, laminating prolongs the life of your printed projects. Lamination increases durability, preserves colors, enables your projects to withstand moisture, and protects your projects from fingerprints, abrasions, and smudges. In addition to the many ways it preserves your projects, laminating also has the power to revolutionize your presentations by allowing hassle-free display of your documents under various conditions. Plus, the glossy finish gives your projects a professional look that you can be proud of.

Die Cutting

Die Cutting

Not all printing projects require a nice, straight cut along the edge of the page. Some need curved, odd-shaped, fancy, or internal cuts. When your design calls for a specialty cut, we have you covered. With access to state-of-the-art die-cutting equipment, we’ll work hard to ensure the perfect cut every time. Choose from hundreds of specialty dies, or have one custom-made to your unique specifications.  We have hundreds of dies in stock, perfect for table tents, door hangers, die-cut postcards, rounded corners, keyhole cuts, and more. We can also create custom dies from your artwork. The shape of your next printed piece is only limited by your imagination.

Creasing & Scoring

When you need to fold a printed project that is on heavier card stocks of paper, we suggest you have it creased prior to folding. Creasing puts a groove in the paper that ensures the fold is accurate and doesn’t damage the ink or paper.

Creasing (sometimes called scoring) is critical to producing a professional fold on heavier stocks. We crease and fold paper weights that are 100 text and heavier to eliminate any cracking which can appear during the folding process. Our state of the art equipment produces a clean and consistent crease for professional results.

Stacked Cards

Cutting & Trimming

It sounds simple, but proper trimming drastically improves the look and feel of your final product.

We operate very sophisticated, computerized digital paper cutters that are extremely fast and accurate. Our commercial paper cutters feature high-pressure hydraulic clamps to prevent paper shifting and razor-sharp carbon steel blades to guarantee the most precise cuts.

Cutting or trimming is generally performed in the post press stage of your project and often completed before your project moves on to the next stage of production.

Receipt Books

Consecutive Numbering

Consecutive numbering refers to printing numbers in a sequential order, typically on sets of carbonless forms or tickets. Each piece gets a unique number and is usually printed in ascending or descending order. Consecutive numbering can be produced using specialized software and printed digitally or applied offline using commercial bindery equipment.

Numbering is an inexpensive and effective way to maintain accurate records and improve organization. Numbers can also be dynamically produced in a barcode format, such as QR Codes, UPC Codes, and more. Learn more about Dynamic Data.

Shrink Wrapping

Shrink Wrapping

Proper protection of finished goods is important for the long-term storage of your printed materials. Shrink wrap is one of the best methods of protection available. We can wrap your final product in bulk or in specific increments, such as packs of 100 for easy distribution and inventory management.

Shrink wrapping your product is an excellent way to save space in your supply closet, keep your materials free from dust, reduce color fading and moisture damage, and further protect your product during shipping or delivery. Shrink wrapping is perfect for invoices, purchase orders, catalogs, notepads, forms, and flyers.

Perforating

Make your paper documents easy to tear off with our perforating services. Perforating or “perfing” means to punch a line of holes to allow portions of the paper to be cleanly torn off. This is commonly used on items such as tickets, coupons, response cards, and vouchers.

Our wide variety of perforating blades, including micro-perforation, provides you with the flexibility to design pieces that separate effortlessly and confidently. Need a custom perf? We have you covered.

Hole Drilling

It sounds a little funny, but we’re experts at drilling holes. We have powerful hydraulic paper drilling presses that feature a range of hole sizes, allowing us to position the hole almost anywhere on your printed piece.

Studies have shown that people tend to save printed items longer if they are three-hole drilled. Marketing experts believe that we subconsciously need to put a three-hole-punched sheet into a ring binder or save it for future reference.

Glue Dot Affixing

Glue Dots are a great way to make a lasting impression that sticks. We use hot-melt “dots” of adhesive to attach an item to your printed product, or seal it shut.

Glue dots are another great way to add some sophistication to your direct mail campaign and a popular method for attaching gift cards, promotional products, and coupons.

Stitching / Stapling

Did you know that “stitching” is another word for stapling? The only difference is that the phrase stapling is generally used when you’re trying to bind together no more than 40 pages. Stapling is done with lightweight desktop equipment. Stitching generally requires an industrial-sized, floor-mounted piece of equipment. At QRP, we have a variety of stapling and stitching machines that can handle any book or printed project you need to assemble.

Flyer Stacks

Collating / Gathering

Collating is the process of gathering individual sheets and other elements of your printing project and assembling those elements into a final product. Copiers can collate automatically, but did you know that we can quickly and efficiently collate other items, too? Our high-speed collating equipment can bring together all the elements of your project, saving you the time it would take to hand-collate the project. The next time you have a big project that requires collating, keep us in mind – we make it so easy that you’ll never want to hand-collate again.

Fome-Core Mounting

Posters and Signs mounted on Fome-Core are easy to hang, frame, or display. Mounting is great for flat-surface presentations, longer durability, and re-use. Fome-Core mounting is a common display technique that involves adhering an image to a board with a foam core, and complements your poster or flyer without overwhelming it. It is inexpensive, lightweight, and long-lasting when displayed indoors.
