Print Like a Pro Without Being a Designer

Maybe you’ve been there.

You’re working on a flyer, menu, handout, or another piece for your business, and everything seems straightforward until the print questions start coming.

What size should the file be? Is that photo good enough? Which paper makes sense? What exactly does “bleed” mean?

If printing isn’t something you work with every day, those questions can make a simple project feel more complicated than it really is.

The good news is that you don’t need to become a print expert before you work with us. It helps much more to know what you want the piece to accomplish.

“What Should I Know Before I Contact You?”

You probably already know more than you think.

You know why you need the piece. You know who will receive it. You likely have an idea of where it will be used and when you need it.

That information gives us a helpful starting point.

A handout for an upcoming meeting may call for different choices than a flyer that will be displayed in several locations. Once we understand how the piece fits into your plans, it becomes easier to talk through the details together.

You don’t have to arrive with every production decision already made.

“What If I Don’t Know the Printing Lingo?”

That’s perfectly normal.

Paper stocks, bleeds, finishes, resolution, and file setup are familiar language to us because we work with them every day. They may not be familiar to you.

When a term comes up, we can explain what it means for the finished piece rather than expecting you to speak “printer.”

For example, a paper conversation becomes much more useful when it centers on whether you want the piece to feel sturdy, polished, easy to write on, or practical for frequent handling.

The technical terminology is only useful if it helps you make a better decision.

“What Information Is Helpful to Share?”

Anything that gives us a clearer picture of the project can help.

That might be a finished file, logo, photos, brand colors, an older piece you liked, the quantity you have in mind, or the date you need everything ready.

Even something as simple as, “These will be handed out at a customer event,” gives the project context.

The product outline includes everyday applications such as flyers, menus, presentation materials, mailers, and handouts, all of which can have different needs depending on how your customers will use them.

“What If I’m Not Sure My File Is Ready?”

You don’t have to quietly hope for the best.

If something about the file concerns you, mentioning it when you send the project gives us a chance to talk about it before production. Maybe you’re unsure about a photo, a color, the size, or whether the latest version exported correctly.

A quick conversation can often clear up the uncertainty.

And if something needs to be adjusted, it’s much better to know that while the project is still at the file stage.

You Bring the Business Knowledge. We Bring the Print Knowledge.

You know your business, your customers, and what you want the piece to accomplish.

We know print.

That’s a good combination.

Working with us doesn’t require you to memorize printing terminology or understand every production choice in advance. It works best when you bring the goal and the context, and we help you sort through the print decisions that support them.

If you have a project in mind but aren’t quite sure what to ask for yet, that’s a perfectly good place to start. Tell us what you’re working on, and we can talk through the options with you.
